This is a digital photograph of a Pipevine Swallowtail Butterfly (Battus philenor). It is a bit the worse for wear though, and the swallowtail part is missing. A viewer corrected me on the identification of this one. I had originally identified it as a Spicebush Swallowtail, going by the little booklet that the butterfly garden handed out, which in this case, was incorrect.
Oohhh. The butterfly has a lovely color that the artist in me is just drooling over. I might even use it for a picture somewhere because the color shading is just wow...
Yes, I was trying very hard to get a good photo of him. I hope that next time I go there, there is more then just one of this kind. *L* Perhaps even one with wings fully intact.
