Quantum Foam

This is a 4 foot by 3 foot acrylic painting on stretched canvas. Or rather, a photograph of it. The only things I did on the computer were to clean up the edges of the photo, and put on my copyright, as the signature on the painting is nowhere big enough to see in this format. Painted in 1997, or there abouts. The painting itself is in storage, so I can't easily check the exact date that I marked on it. I was building my own stretcher bars and stretching my own canvas at that time in my life. *sighs in fond memory of art class lab rooms at universities, and the big spaces they afforded* I don't have the space to do that now.

For some reason, the stained glass background came out darker at the edges in the photo then it was in the painting. It was a bit darker, but not this much. Must have been the lighting. Each of the bright tendrils of color is under-painted in it's chromatic opposite, and the over-painting was left rough so that flecks of color show through. The result (in person, if not in the photograph) was a vibrancy of color that sort of smacks you in the face. *L* I believe this was the painting where I was accused of assault with a deadly color scheme...

Oh, and this was meant to depict particle creation and decay in the quantum foam. It's a physics thing. *L*
